BICENTENARY OF METHODISM
IN WIGSTON MAGNA 1818 TO 2019
 
This year the Wigston Magna Methodist Church in Cross Street is marking 200 years of Methodism in Wigston Magna with special events throughout the year. 6 exhibitions are planned with a central Open Day during each exhibition. Each exhibition will look at what was happening in the Country, in Wigston Magna and how individual Methodists and Churches responded to God’s love in their context.
 
The periods covered will be:
 
1818-1886 The BeginningsOpen Day 2 February
1886-1945 Buildings for The FutureOpen Day 30 March
1945-1983 Growth and DeclineOpen Day 25 May
1983-1990Uniting the ChurchOpen Day 3 August
1990-2019Life as WMMCOpen Day 21 September
2019 and beyond A Vision for The Future Open Day 16 November
 
Refreshments of the era will be available alongside tea, coffee and biscuits
 
Services will be led by Preachers from around the Methodist Connexion
